Our Story

My grandmother Jinny was larger than life; always ready for a boisterous dinner party, an elaborate story, a friendly debate, a cutthroat card game (even against a seven year old) and to welcome a new face as a dear friend. She was the eternal host, keeping everyone involved, entertained and well fed. It was at my grandparents dining room table that I came to appreciate how good food, a friendly atmosphere, and a few cocktails (maybe sometimes too many) can turn any day into a festive holiday. Which led me to become a chef, and now open a restaurant in her name with Dave Punch and Shane Smyth.

Dave, Shane and I have been working together since 2012 when they opened sycamore, and hired me as the co-chef with Dave. Eight years later, countless variations of “boards”, more beignets than can probably fit into sycamore’s dining room, over 50 “First Mondays”, and constant conversation about a wood-fired oven, we are finally doing it! Only a hop, skip and a jump away. Opening a restaurant that I think all of our grandmothers would be happy to stand on the table and shout “Hurray!” (Jinny was known to do this on occasion).

We can’t wait to welcome you to Jinny’s Pizzeria, as family, neighbors and dear friends old and new.
